- To produce live classical and contemporary theatrical works of exceptional quality that are timely, thought-provoking, entertaining and accessible to the theater going public in our community.

- To empower emerging artists and seasoned artists through mentorship and communal collaboration to ensure the theater world has well-trained and disciplined artists to carry on the theatrical story telling tradition.

Our Vision is:

- To build a vibrant local theater-going community that values the richness and the commonality of perspectives in all cultures of the world.

About Global Works

Global Works was founded in 2004 by Arne Zaslove, renowned theater director, teacher of mask and movement, and expert clown doctor. The company, which has been operating for more than 22 years, is an innovative 501(c)(3) non-profit theater company based in Seattle, Washington.

Over the years, Global Works has successfully mounted numerous time-tested classical works, by great playwrights such as William Shakespeare, Thornton Wilder, Samuel Beckett and others. In addition to classical plays, Global Works has also produced creative new physical theater productions such as 2025's imaginative and entertaining work, "RIP, a Winkle in Time" at the 12th Avenue Arts Theater in Seattle and more recently, provocative new works like "BOOBS (Real Talk)", an open discussion by women about their personal anatomy and how it's affected their lives. Global Works has also presented several successful stage readings of plays, including portentous political works like Sinclair Lewis's prophetic 1936 anti-fascist play, "It Can't Happen Here".

The company is firmly committed to staging relevant, timely pieces that encourage audiences to learn from the past, motivate them to challenge the present, inspire them to envision the future, as well as to simply entertain.

Global Works' core members are seasoned professionals in acting, directing, writing, producing, and teaching. Company members currently include:

  • Claire Zaslove; Co-Founder of Global Works, prolific published playwright, experienced stage director and seasoned actor;

  • Gordon Coffey, well-known actor and founding member of the Seattle Repertory Theater;

  • Dr. Noel Koran, Founding Director of the Department of Performing Arts at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon who also has extensive experience as a stage director and performer in Opera, Operetta and Shakespeare;

  • Dr. Theodore Deacon, former Director of Opera at the University of Washington, and freelance conductor, composer and librettist;

  • Global Works Founding Artistic Director, Arne Zaslove (retired) who has been Global Works' guiding light since its inception.

Global Works is working to expand its core ensemble by reaching out to young and established performing artists and technical personnel who are looking to expand their burgeoning careers in live theatre.

Global Works is currently presenting productions in collaboration with Seattle's Hugo House on Capitol Hill, offering staged readings of works by important playwrights, plays of historical significance, and providing vital community outreach for the performing arts.
